Basic Business English
Course Description
Business English is practical English course that covers the four language skills: speaking, writing, reading, and listening. The course also covers the vocabulary and standard phrases of business communication.
Participants receive a comprehensive language package in which the
overall aim is increased skills and understanding in using English as a
business language. The course deals with the language of the service
industry, production, management, sales and marketing, and company
finance.
Participants practise their writing skills by completing various
e-mail exercises: the enquiry, complaints, invitations, and goodwill
messages. Speaking themes are: telephone English,
service-friendly communication, how to present information in an
organised and clear manner, pronunciation, and communication strategies
for dealing with people from other cultures.
Various business-related listening and speaking exercises are completed
based on the business English tests by Cambridge University. Participants read articles relating to their own work and discuss various issues relating to their company in detail.
Participants gain access to a distance learning website that contains
business English learning resources along with guidelines on lifelong
learning strategies.
